Tax on UK pension - Page 2

I'll dumb this down to avoid further confusion:

Military pensions are indeed Crown Protected Pensions.

There are two categories of such, Government & non-Government.

Military pensions are the former & as such, are taxable in the UK only.

Which is what Kimmy said right from the off.

Yes, that is not disputed. However I have taken issue with the statement that tax paid in UK (on the pension) is discounted from Spanish tax. My view, supported by several years of tax returns from a variety of Gestors, is that the pension is declared in box 525 only and no action is taken against the tax paid in the UK. I have previously read the  Gestor's Tax Guide in both languages.

Maybe I'm a bit thick but I'm struggling to understand your point here.

You say you're disputing the assertion that tax paid on a UK Crown / Govt pension in the UK is "discounted from Spanish tax" and yet you go on to say: " no action is taken against the tax paid in the UK."

Can you explain it more clearly please?

I really believe you need to carefully reread my post to which you refer. I clearly stated that I was disputing the statement that the UK tax was discounted, not that I believed it!

The above was pasted from my earlier post. What it means, fairly clearly I would think, is that someone has said that Hacienda discounts (i.e. deducts) UK tax paid on the military pension from the tax due here. I believe that statement to be incorrect, so I took issue with it. 

I have really had enough of our discussion. Let others read as they wish and see who is correct.

The only thing you seem good at, Marcbernard, is attributing your words to other members.  I didn't use the word "Government" and I didn't use the word "discounted" either.
