Hi there, it’s not about grabbing the lions share whatsoever.

What it is about is forward thinking and getting on and doing the right thing at the right time.

The EU has dragged it’s feet yet again and has failed miserably in providing for it’s citizens.

Brian.

Quite right, for once Britains government acted quickly and decisively......there's a first time for everything.

I think you are right. Any country which grabs the lions share of the vaccine without due regard for any other is just not on. This vaccin is needed all over the world. What happened to Democracy?

I don't think Britain grabbed the lion's share, they had the good sense to listen to medical science and approve the vaccine and order enough for the population of Britain while the authorities in Brussels were still thinking it was going to be like the flu and nothing to worry about.

Bustid. Boris has also said that the UK has ordered a lot more vaccines than they can use and would be prepared to share these with those who need them, including the EU. All this without threats of sanctions, closing borders, issuing war mongering rhetoric or endangering the Belfast peace treaty. The EU commission have shown themselves up to be cabal of protectionist bully boys to the whole world. They have shown that they are out to punish the UK for having the temerity to leave the club. The thing that must be grinding their gears is the German press intimating that this debacle would be a very good reason for other countries to exit the union.

Neither myself nor Care4 were begrudging the U.K.  I do believe there is a problem with how vaccines are funded and delivered worldwide, but that has nothing to do with the U.K.

Sorry, Seanie, if I came across a bit spiky. The vaccines are such a miracle I’m delighted when they get stuck in any arm! You’re right about the whole world being a bit crazy - it’s the only way to be. :)

Yes, it is about availability. I heard on the news this morning that Britain is being asked to share its supply with Europe. I think the world needs help from each other!

I heard that Merkel is considering the Russian vaccine personally I would rather Trump’s advice on bleach!

There is nothing wrong with the Russian Novirochoc vaccine, it is easy to give - you can receive it by injection, off door handles or even perfume bottles - simples!!

I think everyone was sceptical about the Russian vaccine, mainly because they started using it without completing a full testing schedule. Well it appears that it is a very effective vaccine, similar in design to the Oxford-AstraZeneca product. I have read that there are tests in the UK looking at using the two vaccines together. Attached is a report from the Lancet on the Russian vaccine.

https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(21)00191-4/full

Probably not going to have a long queue of takers in the UK though!
