Maybe the 1 million plus Brits that visited Spain in January got them worried.

They hate the idea of British people holidaying abroad.

Well given the numbers visiting Spain from the UK it's not having much effect! I suspect that the real reason is clickbait, far larger potential audience with visitors to Spain.

Yep - it’s just a load of information dredged up by newspapers to give the perception that travel is, somehow, more difficult than it should be. Essentially, a lot of the rules reported have been about for many years but only recently being highlighted again for reasons unknown.
