I am afraid that is how it's going to be.  I have found that there is no rhyme nor reason as to what they charge.  It seems to be what they feel like on the day.

I had a packet from the UK via Correos with a contents value of about £4 and had to pay €10 to get it.   If I hadn't actually need it I would have told them to stuff it.

One last week from the US, contents 6$ and later got a separate bill from  FedEx for €10-01 PLUS IVA.

Wherever possible I now look on European sites, but be careful on Ebay as some of the goods still come from the UK, so you will get stung.  It always says on Ebay where the goods are coming from.

I received a parcel from U.K. worth £10, the postage cost £4.90. It was not posted to me I had to pick it up from Guardamar where they charged me €10. 40. Unfortunately I didn’t understand why I had to pay this extra money. Can anyone tell me why ????  I heard that this is now  no...

...rmal due to Brexit ?

My husband has been sending me little things from the UK that sometimes are only worth £2 or £3 but I have to pay the postman nearly 6 euros to receive it in Spain.  The most annoying thing is that the postman doesn't carry change so you need to make sure you have euros in the house to pay for it.  I missed the postman the other day and had to go to the local post office to pick the item up.  I thought that would be easier as I could pay for the duty and VAT by card.  Oh no that had to be in cash as well.  It seems to be that whatever value is written on the customs label on the package is charged at 2.5% duty and 21% VAT and there is a minimum 5 euro admin charge as well to add on top of those 2 things.

My family sent me 5 birthday cards, all together in an A4 envelope.  Customs label stated that it was cards.  The envelope took 4 weeks to arrive and I had to pay 7,10 € in customs charges.

Terrible isn’t it, I don’t see how they work out what to charge, I have had 3 parcels, one came with the postman, no charge, the other two, one was €10 for a very small packet the other a huge pack containing bed linen, cost €6 .It does not make sense !!

You can buy UK bedding from UK shops in Spain, also use Amazon.es and eBay.es. I've never had a problem. Also Ali Express has all different sizes of bedding and the quality is really good

That is what is so frustrating there is no transparency about how much will be charged and at what price point, depends on the mood of the courier and which way the wind is blowing on the day the item is delivered.
