Hi well after been here 18yrs , I have to agree whole heartedly. I have been with several banks & find them generally lacking to treat a customer as a valuable asset to their bank. Complaint is a waste of time, they do not understand without customers there is no bank. When you are at the end of your tether & close your account taking thousands of Euros with you, no questions are asked, there's you cash good luck. Yes you will need it. At present after been caused great embarrassment & frustration by Sabadells so called customer service, over a month ago, promises of phone calls, even after sending a detailed letter of complaint to Customer Complainrs Dept I have had no reply. My next step with the help of my local branch manager, I hope! I will be demanding some explanations. Wish me luck .

I too am with Caixa (Campamor branch) , superb service from Gema my account manager , cannot rate her highly enough. I also use Wise to move money, pensions around every month - excellent live exchange rate and very small fee.

I will wish you all the luck bikeman and thanks for your reply.  Spain has a lot to learn, and being a third-world-country, I hope they will in time.  What I wonder is.... how do the locals fare... it seems to me they must know of a secret bank who respects its customers.... wish I knew who?  eh !!!   Much luck and thanks...  Cilbob

Thank you Tomred... it seems that Caixa have many good reports from other posters, so I may consider an account with them,  Have been with Wise for many years and concur with your praise of them.

Thanks gain for your post.

I really dont think its remotely appropriate or accurate to refer to Spain as a third world country.

I think that it depends on the person who manages your bank / your account. We are with Santander and have nothing but praise for our “personal” banker. He is excellent and has always responded with answers and solutions to any issues that we have had over the 4years that we have banked there. We have heard lots of complaints about other banks in our small town. It seems that it really does depend on the people who run your particular local bank.

Thanks RobT for your reply.  Cant say that about our branch... maybe because we dont speak the lingo.  No help at all...I'm afraid. Looking to close account soon. Cant get any reply from constant phone calls.  Good luck with your banking and thanks again.

I am with Sabadell too, branch by Torrevieja Port and really still with them only because of the app (and DDs plus I am too lazy atm to look elsewhere) which I find great. Emails are often ignored by them (mostly always actually). I think global banking is going the same way as Lloyds UK are worse. 40 mins to 1 hour to answer the phone, security messing up transfers thus having to drive miles to prove myself yet I have banked with them for 30plus years - actually was a TSB customer first thus forced during the join/split. \in short most banks royally suck!

Agree with you.. think the 2 banks you mention, ARE the worse.  Thanks for your post - will stay clear of them.
