Hi

No its not, you have to take a pcr test and isolate ten days, anyone coming to the UK, because if your test is negative you might still have the new variant,

My understanding is after you have taken the PCR on arrival back in England you have to isolate until you receive a negative test.

If the test comes back positive you then have to do the 10 day isolation

The gov.uk web site has not been updated yet it’s still saying a lateral flow test or PCR test is required, as of Sunday 28th Nov 1015 am.

The latest update from the news is you need to take a PCR test not a lateral flow one, this is to be taken within two days of arrival and isolate until a negative result. You do not need an eight day test....

...

Yes.   It’s all changing from Tuesday 04:00. You have to isolate until you receive a negative result from the PCR test you have to do on day 2. You are required to isolate until you do the test too.    So basically.  Isolate. Do the test on day 2. Only go out if negative result is received. And HAS TO BE A PCR now.    The Gov website will update the passenger locater forms Tuesday.
here we go again.  Let’s hope they have caught it in time for Christmas to be a little more normal than last year 🤞🏼

Any chance that Spain and other European countries will do the same for anyone entering from the UK, it’s not inconceivable, and quite honestly, it’s logical that they will. We were planning travelling out early December, flights booked and paid for, but now seriously contemplating just calling it quits! I do know for a fact that Spain has now said that only fully vaccinated travellers from the UK can enter, (that’s ok for us) but it is not clear if they also require a PCR test as well. Or just full vaccination, it will be more clearly explained in the next day or so I’m sure.

At the rate things are going, Christmas may very well be cancelled or curtailed.  Make some contingency plans. My family are all supposed to come over to us ( Northern Ireland)for over a week during Christmas but they too are talking about making contingency plans as it’s highly likely this new variant will  put paid to all our plans.

We are here in Spain now and for the first time ever,we could pack up and go home. The people who look after our house tested positive the day they prepared it for our arrival, we arrived at lunchtime the next day but the whole thing has spoiled everything for us. I don’t know if we could become infected but the worry is still there.  Tested ourselves yesterday and  we were both negative so will test again tomorrow but wish we’d never come.

Well I don't think Holland will be on the holiday list as they have just had 61 off 2 plane loads from South Africa that tested positive and of those 61, 11 were the new variant so I think a lot of countries will be closing down their borders.

Don’t worry, if you test neg tomorrow which I’m sure you will, you will be fine, but I agree it’s hassle. I think many people are reviewing their travel plans at present. But as I said most European countries have not yet committed to what their entry requirements will be, that is bound to cause concern. At least the Uk has been up front very early on, and said, this is how it is, take it or leave it.

How can 61 people arrive in a country, test positive, irrespective of variant. If they met the country’s entry requirements prior to arrival.

Because you do not have to have a test before you fly
