Hi Paula. We had the same thing happen to us before xmas, blocked our a\c and did not pay dd until we produced our P60 from ireland, luckily we were going home for xmas and got the necessary documents. We scanned and sent them to our bank in guardamar, now we ok. We contacted ibrerdrola as Bill due over xmas and said we had a month to pay the bill. It was very inconvenient.so hope you are sorted now.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. Yesterday the customer service department of Bankia emailed to say my account is now active. I logged on today and they were asking for my passport again (which I've sent 3 times, along with all the other documents). A solicitor in Spain actually checked all the paperwork I sent and said it was sufficient. I've emailed Bankia yet again with my details and am now waiting for their reply. I'm at my wit's end now!

Hi happens to me and I wrote on Quesada Talk for help. Bankia stoped paying the bills. I notice electricity bill wasn't paid for 2 months. They do not pay any direct debits and I had money in the bank. I was worried sick no one knew what it was even my solicitor . I went to t bank and she told I did not filled the form ,something to do with non resistance form. She done it there and then . Please go to t bank and it's done

Thank you for your reply but I am in England so can't go to the bank. My solicitor has checked all the documents I sent and said they looked ok to her. I have now had 3 emails from Bankia customer service saying my account is now active, but am still being asked for documents when I log in to online banking. I'll just have to wait and see if my direct debit comes out next week. I have informed the water and electric companies of this.

This happened to me last year at a time when I was not coming to Spain for some months. Fortunately my Spanish solicitor has power of attorney so I emailed her the relevant documents, passport P60 etc and she went to the bank and sorted it out. Cost me €60 but worth it.

Hello,
Thank you for that information. How much was the total cost of Power of Attorney and was it easy to do? I had already thought it might be a good idea to do that as I am not in Spain often enough.

I can't remember how much it cost as it was about 17 years ago, I pay an annual fee to the solicitor which is quite reasonable for her to be my fiscal representative with power of attorney. When you bought in Spain you will have had a Spanish solicitor, get them to quote.

Yes, I will do that. I do have a Spanish solicitor who deals with fiscal issues. I'll let you know the price now of Power of Attorney!
