Hello to all,

I have just joined the group, so you may have discussed this topic before.

I have a holiday home in Iria V, but, I have problems using my mobile phone inside and outside the house as most of the time I have no signal. (Moviestar network).  The house is in a gated community, so, anyone who is calling to me has to phone me when they are at the gate. I often don't get the calls, as I have no signal. Does anyone else have the same problem? and if so, is there any solution?

Thanks,

Mary.

Hi  👋   Mary

Have  you  tried  talking  with  neighbours  to see  if  they  have  similar  problems  with  there  network.  How  many  Bars  have  you on your Phone it up in Right  hand  corner  of Phone to  indicate  the strength  of your signal..Is  there  any  large Trees 🌳 adjacent  to  your Property  that  might  be blocking  out Signal.

Just as in UK, and pretty much everywhere else, mobile coverage can and will vary between networks so the solution is to switch to whichever does give coverage in your exact location.

To find out which that is either canvas your immediate neighbours or buy a one off prepaid SIM for each and try them for yourself.

In Spain there are just 4 principal networks namely Movistar, Vodafone, Orange, and Yoigo so those are the SIMS to try, all others piggyback onto those 4 so once you know which network you need you can select a deal from a provider which uses it.

Hi, you could try the Opensignal app, it will tell you if there is a mobile signal covering your location but you would still have to figure out which network.

There are also signal boosters you can buy, see below.

Hi

I'm in Playa Flamenca, just off market Street (Calle Nicolas de Bussi) and have similar problems! I also regularly see a neighbour walking around with his phone, and the staff in the local bar usually have to step outside to get a signal for card payments!

My SIM is from Avatel - I'm sure they piggy back with one of the major providers.

If you have WiFi in your home, use WhatsApp or Messenger instead.

btw I can't find Iria V on Google maps? If you mention the road name then you may get a reply from somebody close by.

Cheers

Steve

Hi,

if your using a U.K provider and SIM card it, your phone may have preselected a network when you switched it on. The network may not be the best suited to your area.

I had this problem for month, before trying this simple fix.

Go to your network settings and disable the automatic selection. Manually select a different network until you find one that gives the strongest signal.

iPhone: settings, mobile data, network selection, turn automatic off and try the other providers. It may take a couple of minutes to connect to a new provider.

For an Android phone is will be a similar route to change your network.

I tried the solution you mentioned some time ago and all I got was the spinning wheel!! I gave up after a few minutes!! It just seems to be a problem in the Playa Flamenca area. I have no problem using my phone in La Zenia and Cabo Roig!
