Ok guys and gals here goes we had our appointment at the Spanish consulate last Thursday and are awaiting the result.

The process was good however various forums differ to what you do and don’t need.I found o had too much paperwork and brought some of it back eg bills from our place over there documentation saying we had sold our UK property....

...

Requirements

Application Form

EX 01 and the payment form.

Criminal record check translated apostille

Medical check as above

3 months bank statements showing proof of funds I also submitted my pension statement.

Marriage certificate translated and apostille

Medical insurance for 1 year paid for in advance

As per previous comments the financial requirements are correct the process has probably taken 2 months to get to this point.

Hope this helps

Steve

Thanks for the update.  It is really useful to have these updates from someone actually going through the process rather than a variety of opinions of how people think (without knowing) the process will go.

If you don't mind me asking, did you show funds in the bank to cover the whole of the financial requirement, or a combination of cash and pension income?

We are currently unsure whether we should be adding as much to our pension pots over the next couple of years so that we can show that we will be taking it out as income, or alternatively drawing money from those pensions now to increase the cash in our savings accounts.

Great Steve, thanks so much

Now for the interrogation 🤣🤣🤣

How did you get your CRB and who did the translation?

Medical check; what exactly does that need to state and who completed for you? Did you use the same person/ means of translation for all and any translations

Did your financial requirements need translation or legal endorsement 🤪🥂

https://www.acro.police.uk/police_certificates.aspx

That the link for the criminal record check sorry bank statements verified as in verified that the amount shown on pension statement tallied with my bank account

I did get the pension statement translated and an apostiile stamp my bank statements I got a local notary to authenticate them.

I live in Yorkshire I used a local notary to do all the documents that needed an apostille stamp and I used a local translation company to translate the documents that needed translation the two worked together to ensure it was a sworn translation. As for the medical certificate I got it off the consulate website I will try and copy it onto here

Thanks very much,I think you’re probably right but I hope you’re wrong (no offence intended). I,ll just have to wait until something happens.

Cheers and stay safe

Given all the uncertainty and the changes in rules I would sit back and watch the space for a few months . It’s chaotic at the moment as people who have lived here under the radar for many years are now scrambling around trying to get residencia we got ours when we moved here 5 years ago much simpler then

I think it’s very simple if you play by the rules and the new rules say you require a visa then people should apply for a visa if they want to live in Spain.Unfortunately some people were unable to apply for residency pre Brexit and those people who want to stay under the radar not paying taxes etc and lived in Spain for a number of years without contributing to the system should pay the consequences.

I agree 100% Steve. We have got to know lots of people living there over the years as like you say ,never contributed. They can’t have it both ways !
