Thanks very much for your reply and information Steve.I was looking in particular for clarification on wether, after the initial 12 months staying in Spain, when I ,am led to believe we apply for a 2 year visa, would that mean that at the time of applying we would need to have DOUBLE the annual amou...

...nt to cover 2 more years residency or just the annual amount which would need to be repeated a further 12 months down the line.

I hope I,am explaining myself clearly and apologise if not,but as you can appreciate, having €33,800 or €67.000 makes a massive difference as our money would be made up of a continuous income rather than savings.

Many thanks

Hi Bruno , I too am Irish (EU Citizen) and just about to go through the process , fortunately for us the process is less onerous and costly - the link below gives a good summary of the 2021 requirements for both EU and non EU wanting to obtain Spanish residency.- Hope it helps.

The new Spainish governments guidelines on residency and income have disqualified our plans.

Have the Spainish government shot themselves in the foot! Or are they hopeing for a 1960s style  playground for the wealthiest.

These are not new guidelines. These requirements are the same for all EU member countries if you want to live in any one of them permanently.

The British public who voted leave put these "guidelines" into play.

Simply because that was the deadline for British people who were living in Spain before January 1st 2021 to register for residency.

The rules were always there for non EU citizens for residency applications.

I’m afraid that’s not the case. The “new guidelines” were effective from 1st January 2021, in line with the U.K. leaving the EU, therefore becoming TCN’S
