Hi. Can anyone tell me what my son's need to do to obtain their TIE. One lives in America and the other lives in the UK. They both benefit from our English law will. Whilst I nor my husband plan on dying anytime soon but need to inform them how to do it. Also when would be the best time for them to apply for them. Thanks
OP actually meant NIE not TIE so that was a bit pointless.

Hi,
I might be wrong but do you mean an NIE as that is what is required from anyone who is inheriting?
A TIE is if you are applying for residency.
Both my brothers who live in England had apply for theirs last year when my dad died, they needed it for the inheritance process. They obtained theirs from the Spanish Embassy in London.
I'm not too sure about how to apply when living in America, sorry.

They can apply at their local Spanish consulate. There's one in London, Manchester, Edinbugh, Belfast, Birmingham, Glasgow....https://www.spainvisa.eu/embassies/united-kingdom/
See https://www.exteriores.gob.es/Embajadas/washington/en/Paginas/index.aspx for the ones in USA.
They can apply anytime. I would give "house purchase" as a reason for requiring the NIE.

Hello Jessy
Just to add to Madcatwomans posts re NIE.My daughter lives in Orlando Florida & her nearest Spanish Embassy is in Miami.
She has phoned them but it seemed quite a complicated procedure and will require her to take time away from work to apply & again to collect the NIE number. She hasn't been able to do this yet but hopefully she will soon
Cheers

This is really helpful thank you. Our son lives in Colorado. I have sent him a link so hopefully he will look into it. I'm hoping he has plenty of time.😄
