I seriously suggest that you contact a legal source over in Spain.

I am returning on the 17th to prepare my property for listing as for sale. My lawyer has prepared a letter saying this and I have the estate agency saying the same. This is all good enough to travel to Spain.

I'm afraid there are too many individuals on here quoting the text from the UK gov website which is set to restrict UK nationals from travel. Spanish authorities have a degree of flexibility and provided you can show you are not just a holiday visitor, they will grant you access.

As long as you have your PCR paperwork, your QR code done and proof of entry, all will be fine.

That all sounds promising. Please post your experience of successfully entering Spain on 17th as it’s useful and reassuring information for others. Good luck.

Has anyone heard of, or had personal experience  of, border checks at Alicante Airport on arrival from UK?

What were those checks and, worse still, has anyone been heavily fined and/or turned back?

How, or will, those rejected be able to return to UK on the plane on which they arrived ?

Do be aware that there is a curfew in France between the hours of 7 pm and 6 am so make sure you park up on time.  Safe journey .

You can down load a travel form off the French website that allows you to travel outside these time's if you are travelling long distance if you are transitting France. You need this form to show the police if you were stopped. If you don't have it then you can be fined.

Really helpful thank you and I have asked our Abogado regarding a letter and our estate agent selling our house says he will get a certificate from the Notary.

Maybe it is beginning to hit home that Brexit changes the rights of U.K. citizens to live in Spain. Certainly, the pandemic has made matters much worse but I’m amazed at the number of “non-resident” 😉 ex-pats who voted to Leave and are now moaning that their tax-free lifestyle has come t...

Hello Ned 53,

Vaccination rates as a starter for 10.  I am also a fully legal resident in Spain but recognize the many advantages of BREXIT for the majority of UK nationals. I also accept democracy.  Those people who chose to live outside UK did so freely. If they don't like Spain's rules now, they can always return to UK.  The majority of Brits live in UK and it was not a surprsing result of the referendum.

Hi Andy,

Can you provide a list of the "many advantages of BREXIT" please? Lots of people aren't clear about them as is evident in most of the many threads that touch on the subject.

Thanks

Hi Ned,

I did not offer to provide such a list, although it would be possible to do so, just as others will offer to compile and equal but opposite list.  That is debating! However, many of the posters on this forum, quite reasonably, see the issue from their own point of view but there is a much wider issue which impacts many more people than just those of us living in Spain.  Most (or many at least) of us over here are passed our best days of life in terms of time and it may well be doubtful that we will see much benefit in the short term. Looking at it from my grandchildren's point of view, I see they will become the benefactors and for this, I am really very content.  I have grown up and lived through a massive amount of unwanted and unhelpful, plus costly, interference from unelected people in Brussels and I am glad the younger ones will avoid that.

In any case, I doubt this forum wishes us to start a further debate on a dead subject because its done, so whoever we are, we have to navigate the future and stop moaning about the past.  I hope you will look forward also.

NB I voted remain because I didn't really want the hassle of living through the adjustment of BREXIT but I was being selfish by so doing.

The much touted advantage of vaccination rates is a nonsense and there would have been nothing to stop that happening as a member of the EU.
