They are not evading taxes. They pay taxes on whatever they bring in, just not foir the same product.

As to customs, food should be food and not stopped by abusing the system. I ordered cans of meat which are probably good for years but the cheats at customs treated it as fresh meat which can quickly go off. How is that fair?

Kaneda,

"They are not evading taxes. They pay taxes on whatever they bring in, just not foir the same product"

Import and export trade does not work like that, you have to pay duty and tax on what you bring into the country, not what you choose to pay taxes on.

I personally do not believe that Benidorm Iceland would be misleading the Spanish authorities about products they are bringing into Spain. Then compounding the matter by telling customers what they would be (fraudulently) doing,  something which you have now made public on this forum.

I would hope it is more likely to be misunderstanding of what is in fact happening.

Aitch.

Hi, before Brexit my mother used to send me food parcels, things like OXO cubes, curry powder, chili powder, etc. Thompson's tea bags, which are my favorite. There was never an issue.

In January this year, she sent me another parcel, it contained OXO cubes, beef and lamb, some curry powder, and some chili powder, plus a few chocolate bars. ...

...

In March, 2 months later I received a letter telling me that a parcel was being held at customs that contained prohibited items and would be destroyed if I did not send documentation confirming that it was a safe product from a trusted source. I sent a reply, but yesterday 3 months after it was posted from the UK it was delivered back to the UK.

I can buy all of these products in the shops in Spain, so why are they prohibited?

Has anyone else had similar issues?

Brexit is the outcome that just keeps giving :-)

We live in La Siesta and sadly we have only received three Birthday cards and only 2 Christmas cards in the past two years,

Our Daughter and friends have given up on Birthday Parcels as although she has proof of posting we have never received  any of then. Mothers Day hurt the most when nothing was received yet know they were sent.

Have now told family to stop wasting their money. Sadly, the main thing that is spoiling our life in Spain.

It's sad to hear this however they could for example use interflora and you would get flowers from a local florist. I know its not a box of goodies but flowers are always nice to receive
