Heavy metal shutters for veranda doors - best way to clean them? - 1 replies

Dubiner92500 Posted by Dubiner92500 in General property discussion in El Campello on Mon Oct 28, 2019 10:14am

We inherited 2 metal shutters (electrically controlled) for the veranda doors from the previous owner...two of the rare things that actually work... However they do make a lot of noise (which no doubt I neighbours don't appreciate...even if they bother us with their howling dogs.) As the previous owner wasn't particularly houseproud, I'm wondering how to clean them and also if there's a way of making them less noisy?  As I'll be heading back this weekend I don't want to create more work but would like to find a way to clean them.. Needless to say there's probably 20 years of dust/sand which the previous owner never bothered to clean!! Any advice gratefully accepted! thanks

AJ Rams Posted by AJ Rams in General El Campello discussion on Fri Oct 25, 2019 10:06am

Hi

We were recently over in El Campello in order to sign for our new apartment.

We had placed an order for furniture at Canforama in San Juan so on route from Alicante airport we stopped off in our hire car to check delivery was still on.

On return to our hire care someone had broken in and stole both our cases and ruck sacks filled with valuable items we brought from the Uk

We know in hind sight we should not have left the car but thought we would be fine in a busy car park (naive)

£2500 worth of items went no cameras and police just said it happens all the time the target of hire cars

Just be mindful of leaving items in your car don’t make our mistake

Cheers

Andy

Interphone -Fermax - are they easy to replace? - 3 replies

Dubiner92500 Posted by Dubiner92500 in General property discussion in El Campello on Thu Oct 24, 2019 12:45pm

Our complex has a rather dated Fermex interphone system (without camera).. For all the properties which have their front doors out on the street this is not an issue as they can see who are buzzing their house.. Our house is among about 10 which are inside the complex and therefore we don't know who is buzzing: since we bought the house, we've noticed that the Fermex phone is rubbish: we literally can't hear who is calling to enter the complex.  As there have been a few people who've entered the complex and shouldn't have been there, I don't want to be responsable for that, but literally when someone buzzes our house we can hear nothing. Would just replacing our Fermex phone (I see they are sold at Leroy Merlin) solve this problem or should I ask the management company about it?  thanks - its just that I order a lot online and literally can't hear who they are who are buzzing.and the other day a young girl came into the complex but she'd buzzed our house.. so I don't want to cause security problems for anyone else in the complex.. thanks for your advice !

Legitimate window replacement work done in April, everything paid but STILL not received final bill/guarantee? Any suggestions?? - 13 replies

Dubiner92500 Posted by Dubiner92500 in General El Campello discussion on Thu Oct 24, 2019 12:40pm

We used a reputable local company to replace our windows in April... Everything went fine - apart from dirty workers... but work was done and I paid the bills..all legit.. .As I was leaving then I expected to receive the final bill/guarantee as proof of payment and guarantee for the expensive windows which had sticker on them of a 10 year guarantee.. Despite numerous emails since April STILL no final bill neither by email or by post. I dropped into said company 2 weeks ago.. and the person there said that their computer was broken...two weeks later and STILL nothing.. Any one any suggestions as what I can do? I did take a photograph of the sticker on the windows but to me honest I don't consider that a serious enough 'guarantee'.. thanks for any advice...has totally put me off using local companies...

HAVE I BEEN SCAMMED ????? - 19 replies

squibs Posted by squibs in General property discussion in El Campello on Sun Oct 20, 2019 7:59pm

Booked an apartment for 5 months in El Campello (Casa Bonita, between beach and Lidl) starting in just over a weeks time.  All has gone well so far, contracts and conversations on WhatsApp but suddenly one week before sailing she has gone quiet and wont answer when I should meet her to hand the keys over.  Her two apartments are advertised on Booking.com, VRBO etc and she has been listing for several years with raving reviews so I wasn't worried about booking privately.

Is this something that happens there ie. scams or is it very manania and I will hopefully hear from her soon.  We have worked so hard for this new life and I would be gutted if we lost it all.  Any help or advice would be gratefully received.

Thankyou

Ikea online ordering, delivery and assembly? - 7 replies

Dubiner92500 Posted by Dubiner92500 in General El Campello discussion on Wed Oct 16, 2019 10:56am

Hi there, I'm trying to place an order with Ikea for delivery as well as assembly.. Somehow, I don't know why I can't find the option to add 'assembly' to the order. Does anyone know how to do this? Think hubby would prefer if Ikea assembled the stuff rather than him! Thanks for any advice !!

Travel to spain after 31 October - 9 replies

swcoulthurst Posted by swcoulthurst in General El Campello discussion on Mon Oct 14, 2019 10:16pm

Someone may be able to answer this.

Im resident in Spain with a UK passport. I'm planning to go back to UK for 10 days in November. My UK passport expires in April 2020. Not quite 6 months.

What would be the situation being resident ? I have residency card, driving licence and padron to show my residency status. I have no property in the UK anymore.

Where would I stand coming back 'home' to Spain in the event of a no deal catastrophe ?

Can I use my Spanish driving licence or residency card to enter Spain.
