One thing to add.

We will not leave on the 29th. There will be an extension, the very least to pass the legislation required to rubber stamp a deal, and possibly a lot longer, depending on discussions between the UK gov and the EU27. Estimates by analysts range from 2 months to 2 years.

So the thread keeps staggering along, clinging to life.. . !

And of course that Berk chap threw a spanner in the works yesterday.

"Politics is showbusiness for ugly people"

We can lie in the sun while they battle it out!

I admire your certainty. I am now certain that I am completely uncertain about what will happen.

You and me both, and most of the rest of the country. I work a mile from Westminster and each day the news gets more 'now what?'

The impact of no deal is going to be catastrophic for the UK. For example, our public transport system is extremely vulnerable to supply chain disruptions. There is a 6 month lead time for complicated components like bogies. Parts are ordered on a predictive basis, plus a bit for contingency. Unless a transport operator has had a crystal ball and ordered 6 months ago for stockpiling, the parts simply haven't been made. And there is no space for holding larger contingency stocks. Think about how often a service is disrupted because a vehicle is out of commission or signalling has failed. Parliamentarians know this and are determined to avoid no deal, but a no deal brexit is still the default position legally - so until something else happens, that is where we are headed.

I am praying that some sense returns to our Parliament and Government - this is an unholy mess.

Leavers on the line? I don't like them either but that's a bit harsh.

Wow! I have just caught up with all the posts in this thread and as my partner, her daughter and I are planning a permanent move to Spain, have found the confusion, uncertainty and conflicting opinions very unsettling... and with such a major life change, so it should be!

I am not sure whether to add my 'Planning A Move To Spain Now' post to this thread or start a new one but it does seem that all the opinions are here in this one. I would like current responses to my plans and the Brexit situation, as uncertain as they may be, as we are completing on the sale of our home in the UK and need consider every option.

Any feelings about me posting my situation that will continue this thread?

Cheers Paul

Hi Paul.

You can post what you like within the rules of the forum. Unfortunately posting won't give you answers that help, if you are asking what I think you are asking.

Let's be clear. This is what we know for certain will happen in regard to Brexit:

If anyone tries to assure of x, y or z, please be very cautious. We can make some informed guesses, but so can anyone else. A you will be aware, many very informed and educated people disagree totally about what they think is best and what they think will happen.

Sorry, this is not the answer you want, I am sure. Others will come along and tell you Spain cannot afford to let Brits go, everything will be ok, etc, etc. It may be logical, sensible and reasonable, but it is logical, sensible and reasonable speculation - not fact. It is clear that we should now expect the unexpected (as well as the expected). Who knows what that may be?

If you want people to make nice noises and be positive, there will be a few along shortly to do that. They know no more about Brexit than you or I.

If you want reality, it is above. We know nothing for certain.
