Cheers Pete, the only reason we were considering renting here in the UK and owning a property in Spain was that my partners daughter has here exams next year. We could decorate the new property and use for holidays until we permanently move next year... sounds ok. However, in our situation, education and exams can be sorted in Spain and we are keen to emigrate as soon as possible. If there is a longer delay to Brexit we will still be in the EU and our move and residency application will be easier.

Will have to wait to see if we do get a long extension which I personally think is on the cards...

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

That sounds reasonable, thanks for the advice.

People say nothing will change but we could well have 3rd nation status which makes us no different than Africans so please don't be so sure it will be so easy.

Actually, there are thousands of "Africans" enjoying life in Spain as fully legal residents, I assume you are referring to the Lookie Lookie guys many of whom contribute nothing to the Spanish Economy.

I used Africans as an example, all I'm saying is we could have the same status as them, I could have used Asians or Americans as examples, we currently have an automatic right whereas non EU citizens don't, there could be a an expensive and time consuming application process which could always end up in rejection.

The uk doesn’t want us back as we would be a burden on the health system ( most of us are in our sixties ) the Spanish don’t want us to leave as we spend a lot of monies here ie houses cars provisions La Zenia Boulevard is always busy for example.... what I would say is get residency as soon as possible....

Welcome to living your dream 😊

Two of the largest Spanish speaking countries in South America are Colombia (about 46 million Spanish speakers) and Argentina (about 41 million Spanish speakers). remove Brazil as Spanish, accept the vast amount of Welsh people speaking in Patagonia. Don´t get your high-ups UK. It´s gunna be a small island. Better learn : Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch
