Can I pay my spanish bills from my uK bank ? I am in the Halifax

You can keep your Spanish bank and only keep money in to pay your direct debits, after the Cam bank folded with people’s investments going down the pan, I don’t trust the banks. When you need to add more money in Spain the Halifax will do it for you,and they keep your account in Spain on file so it’s even easier.

I dont think most Spanish utilities accept uk bank accounts, the originating account needs an EU IBAN number.

Keep your Spanish bank for direct debits only and just transfer monies when you need it topping up.

Why ? You are being charged for this.

Open a Wise account where there are no running costs other than very small charges for any movement of funds, pay your direct debits from here with no charge.

I am being ripped off on bank charges by Sabadell! I have a healthy bank balance and really only pay my taxes and utility bills by direct debit.i have tried to change banks but it seems they are operating a cartels and all charge similar fees unless you have your UK pension paid in monthly.I live...

... in UK and although I'm retired it's not a feasible solution for me! IS There any solution open to me to pay these charges without  normal bank account?I don't need the bank card, which they also charge €30 for! It's  complete rip off!!

Caja Rural is free of charges if you have an address and are a pensioner I send my husband pension by direct debit every month over. They even gave us a smart Television for banking with them. Recently they started charging 1 euro a month. There is a bank in the Boulevard near Lee Roy Merlin.

I use the Cajamar Wefferent account and the N26 Account. Both are free of charge for online use. If you are non-resident you will need to call into Cajamar as they will need to initiate the account setup. I use Cajamar for direct debits and to store a reasonable balance for property expenditure. I use the N26 for a smaller pool of money to access via cash machines. N26 can be setup up in a few minutes using your phone. You will get a Spanish IBAN if your address is in Spain (you don't need to be tax resident). Both accounts have operated well for me for the past year. I am non-resident.
