Looking to book a 2 day PCR Test for returning to Scotland.

Anyone out there who’s booked theirs and any advice?

I'm going to be using this company.....

https://www.expert-medicals.co.uk/products/fully-vaccinated-amber-arrivals-day-2-test-kit-home-kit

It's on the UK gov approved list and as Scotland recently changed its rules on testing companies this fits the bill

Just go for the cheapest, at the end of the day all we are paying for is a code to put on a form, nice work if you can get it.

You are correct, it's all about money now. If you don't even do the test on day 2 no one will ever know.

I haven't seen a cheaper test than £28

Hi Craig,

They do know - data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) found that 23 per cent of travellers failed to comply either with the requirement to quarantine at home for 10 days, or to complete PCR tests on days two and eight of their self-isolation.   It seems that the UK's 130,000+ death toll just doesn't enter the consciousness of some people.  Whether the Government actually does anything about it is another matter.

Kind regards,

Kim

So many people are reporting that the tests they've paid for are never delivered, delivered very late or they never receive results.

I've travelled several times between Spain and scotland and followed the rules when you had to quarentine. No one checks on you, even by phone. I believe in England they're checking on so many more people.

Border force were allowing people into Scotland who hadn't booked the correct tests at the time when you were only allowed to use one company.

If you want people to follow the rules, you have to enforce the rules because if you don't many people just say "stuff it" and do as they want.

We came back to UK in July had day 2&8 tests isolated for 10 days and had 2 phone calls every day and visits from track and trace. One visit he waited in the pouring rain to see my partner who was in the shower when he came. ( I told her to take her time) so it would appear some of us do get checked on more than others.

That's the way it should work and I'd be more than happy if they had checked on me👍

Hi Craig,

I read an article recently about how to recover costs of tests that are not delivered - I'll see if I can find it again and post it here.

There's an audit trail via passport numbers, passenger locator forms and unique test reference numbers, so I will be interested to see whether the ONS's reported 23% is broken down between failure to administer (by the traveller) versus failure to deliver (by the testing company).  But how would a delivery failure be reported by a traveller?  If it was me, I'd be writing to my MP - it makes a mockery of public health regulations, from which some companies are making a lot of money.

Kind regards,

Kim
