Absolutely fantastic post!! Completely nails the nonsense behind the nonsense that is Brexit. A more spectacular own goal would be hard to imagine. Meanwhile now the dust has settled and the reality of it all has finally dawned, the number of folks still screaming about the myriad benefits of it ...

...could quite comfortably fit in a telephone box! That old football chant…..”its all gone quiet over there” comes readily to mind!!!

I don't like soccer ⚽. 90 minutes would be purgatory ( to me). But for "all" sides regards brexit 2016, this is/has gone on too long! A penalty "shoot- out" is imminent! My opinion only. V

It's all gone quiet because the game is over and people have moved on. In your football analogy terms I suspect you and others are a bit like Liverpool at the weekend, feeling cheated and wanting the game replayed. I don't think that is going to happen for either L/pool or Brexit.

I suggest at the next general election you vote for the party that wants to rejoin the EU, though I am not sure who that is when even the Lib Dem leader says that option is now off the table.

Take a look at what the governor of the B of E said recently on Brexit:

https://www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/ideas/economics/63314/governor-bank-of-england-andrew-bailey-interview

And to answer another posters point about Brits worrying about "Africans and Asians" wanting to come and live in our country - name me a EU country that is not worrying about "irregular" immigration, it's a daily topic on Schengen news.  The UK remains one of the most racially integrated societies in the world, just look at the different nationalities in Parliament.

Do love these EU establishment lovers that are still in denial. It seems brexiters have a problem with facts, i would have thought it were the remainers that have problems with fact, to start with they seem unwilling to accept the fact we had a democratic vote and brexiters won, as for the impact...

... on Brits in Spain i would think minimal if any , unless off course you believe the doom mongers still crying into their G & Ts.

Fact is if it were not for 3 or 4 hundred EU loving MPs that have a problem with democracy we would already have been out and already have negotiated a good deal with the EU bureaucrates, what these remainers seem to forget is the EU needs Britain as much as Britain needs the EU.

I have posted an interesting link below, i like to be factual in my posts rather than quoting "undisclosed" sources.

Years later the entertainment value is as high as ever, especially these kind of quotes "EU needs Britain as much as Britain needs the EU". Pure commedy

I've been entertained and angry in equal measure, now it's all gone wrong they're saying it's not the brexit they voted for, the subject has become relevent again as many are now backing Reform UK which was formerly the brexit party, you know the saying "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me" now they're queuing up to be fooled again.

The problem is that one party has said no to rejoining EU but go back in a certain way as regards trading . Europe will decide what we pay and it will be large! As regards trade the ex Bank of England governor , who was a remainee says trade will be better eventually that it was! The other reason to stay in , as obviously , we will pay in taxes if we half rejoin , is that that would be government has stated the triple lock is over….So let’s not fall out about Brexit, let’s try and get and keep the best pension we can!! We’ve all earned it.

I agree that we shouldn't continue to argue over it, what's done is done but the former head of the BofE and regarded by many as the most competent has consistently said it was a bad move and says we should pursue a closer relationship with our neighbours. Mervyn King has shifted his position several times and been ridiculed for it, we just need to work from where we are now and make a concerted effort to improve relations with our neighbours rather than import low quality food from the other side of the planet, our amazing continent can provide for all our needs if we work together.

["whats done is done but........" ]

When was this done & sorted? It´s still in the news & political discussions (arguments) everyday since 2016 - 2024.(I was "almost" young when this started). The 2nd world war was sorted in six years with hope of a unified Europe to follow.

I wasn't arguing with anyone I was doing the opposite and suggesting a way forward, not that we can change anything but it's a discussion and I was discussing.
