Hello

Yes it was ,    and I was expecting to be asleep but not the case haha. During the procedure the staff were chatting  to each other and some music was playing,   it was  a very relaxed atmosphere

Cheers

Hello ladies,

I hope you do not mind me asking but how long did you have to wait for the operation after visiting the Torrevieja assessment centre?

I have an appointment in February and am unable to drive now as my sight has deteriorated badly in the last six months. I am considering paying for private treatment if it is a long waiting period.

Thank you

Jean

My wife had to wait 7 months but it was the height of the pandemic at the time. The anaesthetist at the hospital said they aimed to do everyone within a maximum of 5 months and apologised for the delay.

If you are so bad now you cannot drive then perhaps going private would be a better option.

On the other hand, my son in law in UK was told he would have to wait up to 2 years before being seen so he went private as he drives a school bus as part of his work.

Hi Jay, I had my first op today at Torrevieja, about 7 months from last May, so I think thatā€™s the norm now, it was super busy, and a 10:30 appointment resulted in me leaving just before 7pm. I believe they had an emergency, which pushed us all back. The staff were all pleasant. I go back tomorrow for the doctor  to check it over. However, all the paperwork says it is illegal to drive in Spain after the op for a minimum of 1 month. I wish you well, and hope you make the right decision. I do believe it is very expensive to go private with this. Best regards. šŸ˜Ž

Just a quick update.
I visited the eye clinic in Torrevieja yesterday and they are referring me for a private operation as the waiting list is very long for Torrevieja hospital. I am  presuming this is because the cataracts are now badly affecting my sight.

I have requested Imed in Elche as a friend of mine has recommended them. I am now waiting for them to contact me. Fingers crossed it will not be long.
