I can't understand some of the wording on the form from Bankia for non residence tax, so if anyone does, please let me know.

Declaration of tax residence for NIF purposes - I understand this of course and then -

Non-application of withholding on accounts and deposits - I don't understand this.

I always have problems with doing this declaration and Bankia aren't easy to contact.

Bankia has been recently absorbed by Caixabank. Employees are overburdened and unhappy fearing loss of their job. Many branches were closed down, and more to follow.. Bad times.

Yes, Bankia has got worse and worse.  I finally got to speak to someone today from Bankia who said that lots of people in England had problems with the declaration. It would have been good to have been contacted to let us know that things on their website were going wrong.  I have now been told to download a form and send it by post to Bankia. When I can get back to Spain I am definitely going to change banks. Do you know of a reliable bank that doesn't charge a monthly fee of 14 euros and then an annual fee on top of that?

Yes, you have helped, thank you.

I actually had an email from Bankia this afternoon, apologising for the online declaration not functioning.

Hi Paula

I changed our bank from Sabadell to Cajamar Bank 2yrs ago and haven't paid a cent in fees since. Their online account "weferrent" is perfect for our needs with an English helpline if needed. Google their website in english, non residents must apply in branch not online. Can't fault them.

Regards

I can understand how you feel. It's so frustrating, as soon as I go back to Spain I'll definitely change banks.

Hi Paula,

Yes it can all be very frustrating and difficult when you are in the UK and your Spanish is non existent or limited.  One of the things no one tells you about buying property in Spain!.  For anything to do with taxes we have dealt with Angar Taxation Services, they understand it all and it takes away all of the stress. You will need to give them bill information but after that they will set you up a direct debit and its all taken care of.   Lots of people on this forum have used them and I havent seen a bad review yet.  It cost us about 70 euros for them to sort it all out as a one off payment which in my opinion was well worth it.
