Hi all. We've just got our first iberdrola bill while staying here in our new home. Higher than I thought but then again we were cleaning etc round the clock n wasn't putting washing machine on at promotional periods. We are leaving the water heater /emersion in constantly as per advice as its supposed to be more expensive to heat from cold. What's everyone's opinion on this.   Thanks

We use our water heater through a plug in timer so it only comes on in the promotional hours, we have the Iberdrola 8 hour plan

Check what your input is because the higher it is, the more you will pay both in price per unit and standing charges. We live here permanently and have 3 kw in a 4 bed villa usually with just the two of us but still adequate when our daughter comes to stay with her family. We don't have air conditioning though so you will have to be realistic as to how much you are prepared to adapt to using mainly in cheaper times and spaced out against reasonable enjoyment of your home.
We have just got our bill from the local cooperative and it is €130, our highest yet.

We too are with Iberdrola on the 8 hour plan, our potencia is 9.2 Kw and cannot imagine only using 3Kw. Our iron and kettle are 2.5 KW each and we would  struggle with fridge freezers,  pool, dishwasher etc. Our bill for January was €106.

Be very careful about changing any current (sorry for the pun) contract at the moment as the prices are now much higher. You may be better staying with your present contract for the moment. Surely the prices must decrease eventually.

There’s a stall at Leroy Merlin and they can offer discounts there. We’ve been twice now and reduced our bills from around 80 to 60 a month in Los Dolses

We have a large frost free side by side fridge freezer and a very large chest freezer. Our water is all pumped as not on mains and we have a pool pump, washing machine, dishwasher, tumble dryer, electric oven. The pool pump is on overnight, as is the dishwasher (smoke alarm nearby) and the washing machine goes on at the weekends with the tumble dryer used at most once a week, again at the weekend. I know I can't have two machines on at once, or have the oven, kettle and microwave on at once but it isn't much bother once used to it. I don't have air conditioning or any form of electric heating apart from the electric used to run the gas boiler for the central heating and hot water so maybe this makes it easier for us.

Your reply reminded me of when we lived in the campo in Murcia. Happy days! We only moved to an urbanisation as we were getting too ancient to cope with the land and having a ten minute drive to buy groceries was getting to be a grind.

Hi as far as I know the unit kW is same for everybody on new contracts with iberdrola. Its 8 hour contract. I know I wasn't using that properly but the new aircon runs at 10 tp 12c per hour so is cheaper than previous models. It's the immersion I was wondering about.  Thanks

I've tried having the 80 litre water heater on all the time, switching it on for when I need it, and having it on a timer in the early morning at the cheap rate, and to be honest I've never noticed a difference in my bill. So I now have it all on the time for the concenience.

That's what I was told to do
