Brennie,

I have edited this as I want to try a different approach. My original response is copied below in the interests of transparency.  Please do not respond to that.

I have tried to ask you this previously, but maybe did not ask in the right way.  What is troubling you about the negotiations with the EU? Do you think if a different party were in power in the UK everything would be a lot clearer by now?

I really believe all we will get until the end are sound bites to suit each protagonist. I cannot see how we would get any information about the real negotiations. I certainly would not reveal anything and I assume you wouldn't either.

What is it you want?

Please do me the courtesy of answering my questions, as i have made efforts to answer yours.

Thank you.

> So now lads, where has the progress been here ?

Let's not play games and waste each other's time. I have already answered this. We do not know as we are not privy to the negotiations - in any real sense. There will be statements from various protagonists to suit their agendas. There will be no daily, weekly or monthly updates on the (real) progress of negotiations. The outcomes (of negotiations) will be announced at the end - for reasons I have already stated. That would be the same regardless of which party were in power in the UK. What the UK does as a result of the outcomes of the negotiations with the the EU depends on Parliament.

I cannot make that clearer or more simple.

I should really give in now because I can not take much more. I thought we are privy to information on the negotiations. Is there not a briefing and a press conference after every session on what progress has been made. I think that a few five year olds would do better than those negotiating now for the UK. I thought that there would be NO moving on until the first three issues were sorted by the UK government. For example please tell me the agreed arrangement on the Irish border Brian. Make the answer simple. Thank you Brian for the effort you are putting into this topic. I like that word you used - transparency.

Not about giving in Brennie. We are not about winners and losers here I hope. All trying to peer into the mist.

Yes, there are briefings and press conferences. Each is geared to the real and hidden agendas. I kicked the tyres. There is a scratch n the paintwork. The MOT is only for 7 months. Horse trading.

I do not know that anyone would do any better at this. I do not know how I would know since I do not know what is going on behind the scenes.

> For example please tell me the agreed arrangement on the Irish border Brian.

As for everything else, we do not know other than deliberate leaks and speculation. As per my previous, all part of wider negotiations.

We do not know. That is it :>)

Hello Brian, this is my last observation of what is going on in the real world of Brexit. ALL of the negotiators on the EU side have said that there is NO progress on the UK side.  No secrets over there, everything out in the open. Saw the Irish prime minister on Sky News this morning. Looks like he is trying to solve the EU border problem for us in the UK.

And so Brennie is sliping quietly away from this topic. There are other fish to fry. What a great array of rugby matches today. Then next Saturday it's Spurs versus our neighbours the Gunners. I have always admired their man Arsene, with the money and stability he has brought to the club. I know this is off topic. So would there be scope for a dedicated sport topic ?

Why don't you start one instead of spamming up a good thread with your empty headed nonsense?

Kind regards, Steve

I sent an apology to Kim by pm regarding the Catalunya remark, and she said I should post it on the open forum. So this is exactly what I sent her.

Hello Kimmy,

''I am so sorry for suggesting that it was you that made the remark about  Catalunya. It was of course Steve that said it. He should have known better. He is of course entitled to freedom of speech.''

Thank you Steve, for your excellent and helpful suggestion on starting a sporting topic,

Brennie (lol Kim, Bigger Boy)

I've been trying to restrain myself from posting any more in this thread, but after a couple of whiskys I can't avoid chipping in.

I know that debate is healthy, but there's usually an end or conclusion in sight for any debate, and there isn't one regarding this subject for quite a while yet, so why bother?

It seems to me that people are just expressing opinions. Nothing wrong with that, but you aren't going to alter anything, so why spend your time on it? Haven't you got anything better to do with your time?

I realise I'll probably get slagged off for this comment, and in some ways I envy those who don't have enough interests or hobbies to keep them fully occupied.

Ha-ha :>) Some fair points Jim.

I have loads of time and manage to fit this in along with my hobbies etc. I have resolved to try and avoid getting sucked in to answering the same questions over and over. I have only myself to blame.

I don't see to much debate here.

My guess is this thread will continue on beyond the Brexit negotiations :>)

This has been an interesting subject.

However after 18 pages it may be time to draw a line under this actual topic . It will stay here for now but if anyone has any new and fresh observations to make on this subject then please feel free to start a new topic.

Topic closed.

Thank you.

Thank you this was a big step for us and now coming up to leaving uk and gets a little worrying.

Why not take your pets with you...its veers cheap to go by ferry and drive down to Spain and nearly all the hotels are pet friendly.

We did the trip earlier in the yea to test it out with three od our dogs and had no problems and it wasn't expensive.

We have bought a county house in a Daya Vieja and are moving there in February and we are going by ferry to Calais and driving down. We are taking our 8 dogs and three cats with us plus gold fish!

It might make you feel better and more relaxed with your decision if you have your pets with you, not sure if I could have made the decision to move to Spain if I weren't able to take our pets!

Good luck x
