Because there is no instant test. Plus, and I may be wrong on this, but I believe this is the case, that you can still be a carrier of the virus but test negative. But mostly, because there isn't an instant test. Even if there was, how would it work?

Again, I'm not 100% on this, but the average Easyjet plane has 180 seats. Heathrow has about 1800 planes a day landing. Let's knock that number right back to 300 a day on average per airport. That's 54,000 people a day to be tested in airports. Can you even begin to imagine the infrastructure nee...

...ded for such an undertaking, not to mention the delays it would cause?

It's neither feasible or even possible to test people coming in.

Again, I've figures to hand, but the percentage of "business" that requires free-flowing international travel to operate I would guess is tiny, far less than 1% I'd suggest. So, the quarantine restrictions will have a minimal effect on business in general, and people getting back, and so the economy.

My usual caveat: I'm not supporting the decision, or the government, or anything, just trying to give you an answer, but that may well be wrong.

Hi,

The govt announced on Thursday they now have an accurate test that takes 20 mins, so your right, your wrong.

Also at first there  will not be that amount of planes in the air.

People coming into the uk will have to self isolate, not be tested then isolate as appropriate, strangely people without a forwarding address will be found accommodation, because our border force will do random checks on all who entered, I say strangely because the people who usually come here without accommodation you usually use boats about the same size as dingys.

And finally who said they need to test just before boarding...

Hi ray,

You need to check your maths mate, airbus a380 hold 800 odd, I do understand your lack of faith in our govt but prefer to believe them in the first instance.

I would say the press are spreading bull##%# like butter at the moment, currently hounding  Dominic Cummins .

They must be massive planes if 10 planes carry over 15000, that's 1500 people on each plane! 😆

The point I was trying to make was the media have been awful throughout this COVID-19 period and I wouldn’t take much notice. During a recent daily briefing they spent 1 hour quizzing the govt about DC instead of asking more pressing matter the public maybe more interested in

I don't disagree with any of that. As I said, I'm not a milisecond supporting the government, just trying to answer the OP.

The UK government have consistently reacted slowly and always seem two steps behind the reality. I'm not sure I'd personally feel any safer anywhere, thankfully where I live there is very little CV....

...

Maybe the British government are being clever, whilst we are a week or two behind Europe, could they be watching the results of what happens in countries that are opening up and then act accordingly would we then be a week or two in front if everything goes t-ts up with those countries.

Let them who have not had an argument with their wives partners pick up that stone, we’ve all had one or two doesn’t make it abusive if the police were called every time someone had an argument they’d be inundated.

And no I do not condone abuse of any sort.
