not so many transactions on your debit card.

Even (or especially) in Spain surely Credit cards allow you more protection than Debit cards, via chargeback.

Did they open an account as an expat - non resident (I have an apartment in Spain and again only need to pay bills (elec / suma / admin etc) and keep a balance of 1-2,000 euros for holiday spending. 

What documents did you need when you visited ?

...ot make it work, no problem, this is only twice per year so I transfer it directly to the community/urb account from my Transferwise account rather than by direct debit.

I do not use Transferwise for atm withdrawals as I have a Santander account in the UK so this is free.

I also have a Starling account which is brilliant but my initial research suggested that because the IBAN is GB it could be problematical and decided to use the Transferwise account for direct debits.

Closing my Bankia account is proving to be more difficult as I can't get to Spain at the moment, I have written to the branch at La Zenia several times stating exceptional circumstances due to the pandemic, they don't want to know, they would rather the €14 per month stack up.

RayD. I too have thought about your question regarding these online banks being accepted in residency applications, my gut feeling is perhaps not, probably Spanish bank account only.

Iberdrola - I have done this online but now in My Contracts it says Error has occured in the Application

Hidraqua - I have tried this online but it gives error message when trying to change the IBAN Number

Maybe log back into your Hydraqua and Iberdrola accounts and use the ' contact us ' facility and explain your problem to them, suggest including your Transferwise IBAN number as they may be able to sort it from their side.

Iberdrola - It shows my Transferwise IBAN Number, on looking at  My Contracts it says Error has occurred in the Application

Hidraqua - I have tried this online, called them yesterday and I was emailed a form to complete and send back to a specific email address which came back the morning advising about not using the email.

SUMA - I was talking to them and he kept repeating the website address to use so will prob wait until hopefully I come to Spain and can pop in the office.
