This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Sorry, no idea. I don't doubt they will be available from somewhere, but I've never seen them. Perhaps ask your local town hall or bomberos.

You can buy removable flood barriers but they're ridiculously expensive.

An idea that some others might want to copy:

I had some spare chipboard sheets with a good quality melamine coating on them. I've cut them so that I've got a piece that is a snug fit to the reveal of each doorway to our house. The intention is that, if required, I could quickly put them against the doorways and seal round the edges with silicone sealant or yeso rápido.

Great advice there and lots of useful tips for further information.

I'm still a bit confused regarding seafarers from what we have found out we will be taxed 37% if this is correct we'll be staying in the UK feel absolutely saddened by this we have been planning for few yrs to come over finally finished our mortgage repayments and planned on coming over March but Coronavirus happened. My partner was self employed but now contracted through a company out in Singapore, he's the only provider for our family myself and my 7 Yr old son. Any advice welcome.

Thanks Fran

Sorry, but I don't understand.

Does your partner work remotely from home, or physically in Singapore, and how many days of a year would he spend in Spain?

It's possible he might be treated as a British offshore worker, in which case Spanish tax shouldn't be applicable. Not knowing much about the topic, I think it would be worth asking HMRC if he would continue to be taxed in the UK.

It is true that Spanish tax rates can be quite punitive for anyone on a healthy income, but they are tiered, and I would need an idea of income level before I could give an indication of tax due.

He works offshore all over the world currently at Taiwan. He doesn't pay tax at the moment as he a seafarer. We need to know how this would fit in with Spain?  He's not on a great wage 2,800 a month. We are mortgage free. We hope to sell and rent in spain Initially. We need to resolve this issue before we can move forward with our planning. Thanks, kind of you taking time to respond and helping. Fran, I need to be careful what I say here.

If his home is going to be in Spain, then he needs to get residency here, no doubt about that.

If he doesn't spend 183 days or more in Spain in any year, then he won't be fiscally resident here - that's just my opinion - I don't know enough about seafarers or offshore workers to state that with total confidence.

Given how important the subject is, I think you need expert advice. I don't know of anyone in your area, but I've heard good reports locally of:

Hi Alex and Jim,

Hello to you both and thank you for the great work you have done with the Guides!

I am switching from being an income tax resident to a non income tax resident for 2020.  I believe I have to inform the Tax Authorities about this change.  The challenge seems to be in the word "resident".  I have a Green Card Residency card.  The difference is from an income tax resident (I was in Spain more than 183 days for 2 years) but since 2020 I am not in Spain more than 183 days.  So I am keeping my Residency but just not here as an Income tax paying resident.  Whew...  so confusing.

Since I own a property then for 2020 I will be submitting the appropriate tax (thanks Jim for your great information on this topic) in December 2021.  The Hacienda may wonder what is happening for 2020 so I am sure that I must inform them.

Is this the link I will follow - https://www1.agenciatributaria.gob.es/wlpl/EMCE-JDIT/ServletSolGen

Thank you for your help.  I do not want to do the wrong thing with the Tax Department!!!

Gilly, it's Alex who has gone to the trouble of compiling and formatting the list, so it's he who should be thanked.

Hi Jim,

Just looking for some advice have been offered some part time supply teaching work.

And I need to have  crb/ clearance  to work with children.

What do I need and how do I apply for this.

Thanks Liz
