AS we now know, our La Marina are in San Fulgencio departement , tales time to sort it all out , newer the less,- we are on our way and so are the time . Nice weekend all
Evening to all who are reading this.
We have a purchase contract and are now finalising our moving arrangements to a beautiful property in La Escuera. In 4 weeks time we hope to be supervising our furniture arriving and saying goodbye to our life in Italy after nearly 18 years. We have read, digested, downloaded, printed and pored over every document we can find to make this as painless as possible. I have to say that Jim's guides have been invaluable and this should not be underestimated as his contribution to this forum - Thank you!
We cannot wait to make our next stage of life in the area and hope that everything will run smoothly although that is said with a healthy scepticism after experiencing administration in Italy. We are 'newbies' and really want to integrate and get to know people. If you see cars driving around with Italian plates in the next few weeks that will probably be us so please say hello before we change them over to Spanish numbers.
We are fortunate in that my wife speaks Spanish and I speak an Italian version of it so we are determined to do our best to enjoy the best of both worlds whilst respecting the host nation and enjoying everything there is on offer.
I have seen a recent post on the Spanish Citizens Advice website stating that residencia in the Alicante region can now only be applied for in a central office in Alicante. Does anybody have any update on this? They don't appear to have any appointments available online and I would really like to start off on the right foot.
Thanks to all - hope to meet some of you soon!

Hi Ian,
Welcome to Spain and welcome to the forum!
My husband's parents lived on La Marina urbanisation for 15 years, before they passed away a couple of years ago, and they loved it. Although we chose to live in a more rural location, I can assure you that there are no "slums" on La Marina and it is not a "council estate". I'm pleased you weren't put off by the more extreme bias expressed by some members.
Although we don't live on La Marina, we often visit to eat there and my favourites are all in the "Grey area" on Avenida Londres:
- Bar Ramon, a Spanish restaurant with a great menu and superb steaks.
- Philippe and Francine, a French restaurant with a good wine list and excellent value.
- The Grill House, beautifully decorated, great menu, great value and, despite being the busiest restaurant every night of the week, the service is excellent.
- Curry Mahal, nothing fancy about the decor, but THE best Indian food.
There's also Italian, Swedish, Dutch, Bulgarian - and probably many others that I haven't come across, even after 20 years of regularly visiting.
And from where you are at La Escuera, you can pop across the N332 into La Marina village to Los Carmelos, a great family-run bodega - take empty bottles to fill up with wines from the barrel.
There are many other good things about La Marina - I only chose restaurants to demonstrate the international flavour of the urb. My mother-in-law belonged to the green bowls club, my father-in-law to the church and book club.
I would say the best thing about La Marina urb is that you have everything on your doorstep and can dip in and out as you chose.
Enjoy!
Best wishes,
Kim

See again for update https://www.facebook.com/CAB.Spain/
I believe there may still be appointments, ask your Gestor or solicitor, they will know 🤞🏼
Ray D so you are happy to slag off Milton Keynes as well which is where I live and happily have done for 20 years+
Well, we have finally moved in. Surrounded by boxes and general mayhem in the week before Christmas but happy to be here! We both look forward to joining in the life in Spain.
